SOLDIERS based in Aldershot now have their own radio station - Garrison Radio.
The station is broadcasting music and chat seven days a week, 24 hours a day.
Launched last week, it has a potential audience of more than 12,000.
Disc jockey Richard Wyeth is the first voice the squaddies hear as they tumble out of bed each day.
He presents the breakfast time programme from 6am to 10am, and is one of the station's seven employees.
Programme controller Mark Page said: "In the near future we intend to give the soldiers a chance to host programmes."
The station will carry news about the town of Aldershot as well as the Garrison.
"There aren't many places where the town and army are as well integrated as here," added Mark.At present the station is broadcasting on 107FM, but in a few weeks time it will be switching to 1287 Medium Wave.
