CAMBERLEY'S Old Dean estate is set for expansion following the proposed demolition of 58 homes.

Surrey Heath Housing Association wants to bulldoze the properties to make way for 161 new homes.

If the scheme is given the go-ahead, then it would be the first significant development of the estate since it was built in the 1960s.

The area earmarked for the scheme is located on the north side of the A30 close to the Caesar's Camp Road junction.Surrey Heath Council planners have been told in a report that the new homes would blend in with the existing estate.

English Nature, however, has asked for time to consider the impact the proposed houses will have on wildlife in adjoining woodland.
