THREE joyriders who dumped a stolen car at Sandhurst escaped capture - despite having a police dog on their trail.
The dog tracked them through three miles of countryside to Blackwater where it lost the scent in a housing estate.
A police spokesman said: "It did extremely well to follow their scent over such a long distance."
The Surrey police dog was called into action when the stolen Vauxhall Astra was abandoned after being chased by police through Camberley.
Motor patrols had been warned to keep watch for the car after it had been stolen from Alton Drive, Blackwater.
