FLEET Pond Society has received the special Golden Jubilee award for work for Fleet Pond local nature reserve.

The award will be presented by the Lord Lieutenant of Hampshire.

The society's work is further recognised by an invitation to attend a garden party at Buckingham Palace in July.

Colin Gray, the current chairman, with his wife Mavis, and David Jones, Chairman from 1982 to 1992, with his wife Joan, will represent the society.

David was responsible for setting up the conservation volunteer group that has done so much to restore and enhance the wildlife diversity of the reserve.
