Police appeal after cyclist followed girl, 12, up Farnborough alley way

Police are appealing for information after a young girl was followed by a man on a bike who made her feel uncomfortable

The man was riding a red and black bike

Police are appealing for information following a suspicious incident in Farnborough last week.

On Friday January 24, between 8.10am and 8.15am, a 12-year-old girl was walking in an alley way between Middleton Gardens and Marlborough View when an unknown man cycled up beside her.

He stopped and looked at her, making her feel uncomfortable, and as she ran away the man continued to ride alongside her until she reached a local convenience store, where he turned and rode away.

The man is described as Asian, with large brown afro hair aged in his 30s. He was clean shaven and was wearing a red hooded top, blue jogging bottoms and only one sock.

He was riding a red and black mountain bike.

Inspector Olga Venner, from Hampshire police, said: "I would like to hear from anyone who recognises the description of this man as we would like to speak to him in order to establish the full circumstances of the incident.

“The girl was scared by the man’s behaviour towards her and we have been carrying out extra patrols in the area at the start and end of the school day to offer reassurance to children and their parents.”

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Farnborough Safer Neighbourhoods team by phoning 101 or call Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
