A POLICE office on wheels took to the road in north east Hampshire last week.
Pictured above, the specially equipped Ford Transit van is visiting remote villages in the area.
Staffed by two police officers, it is bringing the facilities of a permanent police office to rural locations.
Villagers can use the mobile office for such matters as reporting crimes and seeking advice.
The van is fitted with a direct fast track link to the constabulary inquiry centre at Winchester, where crimes are recorded.
The scheme is being financed by Hampshire's allocation from the Government's rural crime fighting fund.
Police chiefs believe the sight of the van will reassure villagers and boost the fight against countryside crime.
The van was put on show at Yateley police station before starting its first rural run.
