A pub in Yateley has been recognised for customer satisfaction.

The Ely in London Road has received a Certificate of Excellence for 2014 from TripAdvisor – an award given to venues that consistently achieve outstanding reviews from customers on the popular travel website.

To achieve the accolade, The Ely has consistently maintained high ratings on TripAdvisor.

Luke Jones, manager at The Ely, said: “We know that customers rely on the honest feedback they can get online on websites like TripAdvisor.

“We strive every day to keep our customers happy and every single positive review means a great deal to the entire team.

“I would like to thank everyone who took the time to post their feedback.”

Named after a famous racehorse and built from the proceeds of a bet, The Ely is an historic hotel and part of Old English Inns.

The pub has 35 lodge-style en-suite bedrooms and serves mainly traditional British cuisine, including 8oz gammon and egg, Hunter’s smothered chicken breast and hand battered cod and chips.

Not far from Gibraltar Barracks and situated next to Yateley Common, the pub’s large garden, lined with picnic benches and thick hedges, has a function room that can be used for private celebrations.

Peter Hebblethwaite, business unit director for Old English Inns, said: “This is a tremendous achievement and a real source of pride for everyone working at The Ely.

“The team works tirelessly to deliver the value, service and quality that is expected of Old English Inns and I would like to congratulate them all.”

Marc Charron, president of TripAdvisor for business, said TripAdvisor was ‘pleased to honour’ exceptional hospitality businesses for consistent excellence.

He added: “The Certificate of Excellence award gives top performing establishments around the world the recognition they deserve, based on feedback from those who matter most – their customers.

“From Australia to Zimbabwe, we want to applaud exceptional hospitality businesses for offering TripAdvisor travellers a great customer experience.”
