RIDERS of all ages are saddling up for the money-spinning Fleet Lions charity sponsored horse ride.

This year’s event takes place at Tweseldown Racecourse in Church Crookham on April 13.

Last year more than 250 riders braved blustery conditions to take part and raised £1,000 for charity.

Fleet Lions president Eddy Clark is pictured presenting the cheque to Rachel Plumbe, who received it on behalf of Riding for the Disabled.

Laura Davis, who raised the most sponsorship in the under-16 age group, is also pictured on Sultan.

Mrs Plumbe said the money would go towards a replacement horsebox.

Ian Johnson, fundraising chairman for Fleet Lions, said he hoped this year’s event — the 18th — would have a larger field of riders and bring in even more money.

This year’s course is about five miles and has 20 obstacles of varying degrees of difficulty.

Riding starts at 10am and the event runs until mid-afternoon.

Entry forms are available by calling 01252 620634, or can be downloaded from the Lions website at www.fleetlions.org.uk.

Admission to the event is free and the Lions will provide tea and coffee and a barbecue.

There will also be a tack shop.
