Angry residents have joined forces with town councillors for a fresh battle against a controversial homes development planned for the High Street.
Plans to build 35 homes met stiff opposition on Monday after residents and councillors united at Sandhurst Town Council's planning committee.
But this is not the first time residents have had to fight to save their town from the developers, Bancroft Developments Ltd.
Earlier this month, the firm put forward a proposal to build 32 homes on the same High Street site, but Bracknell Forest Borough Council halted the plans after 69 residents wrote letters objecting to the move.
The developers have now called for a public inquiry into the original refusal.
But in the meantime, Bancroft Developments has submitted a second housing proposal which includes three extra homes.
On Monday, resident Martin Horncastle voiced his disbelief at the second proposal.
He said: "I am speaking on behalf of 45 residents. They were astounded that Bancroft Developments has the cheek to apply again."
Residents reiterated previous concerns about the development, which include increased pressures on sporting, recreational, social and educational facilities and pressures on the transport infrastructure.
Cllr Michael Brossard showed his support for residents, saying: "It comes down to the concerns expressed recently over the first proposal.
"There are a total of nine areas for concern. I have to say I believe the developer has not taken on board any of the previous concerns."
Cllr Bob Piggin, chairman of the committee, summed up the reasons why he felt town councillors should recommend refusing the plans a second time.
He said: "There's no scope on this site for overflow parking as there's no alternative parking available. This is a major concern.
"I also suggest a full highway survey be carried out."
Councillors voted unanimously against the plans, which will now go to Bracknell Forest Borough Council. Residents wishing to write letters of objection should send them to Bracknell Forest Borough Council, Town Square, Market Street, Bracknell, with a copy to Sandhurst Town Council, Council Offices, Memorial Park, Yorktown Road, Sandhurst.
