A Crowthorne athlete took bronze at the recent South of England Indoor Rowing Championship — the first race of the 2002-2003 national Indoor Rowing Grand Prix series.
Laura Myers of The Brackens, took third place in the Women's 30-39 heavyweight category at the Mountbatten Centre in Portsmouth.
More than 150 athletes raced at the event organised by Concept 2.
Other races in the grand prix series are set to take place in Cardiff in December, Manchester in February and in Nottingham in March.
Each event has seven separate age categories, Junior 18, under-23, Open 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and the final class for over 60s racers.
Each category also has classes for heavyweight and lightweight men and women, and points are awarded for position and at the end of the season.
The series complements the annual AXA PPP healthcare British Indoor Rowing Championship, which takes place in November at Birmingham's National Indoor Arena which attracts 2,500 competitors and 5,000 spectators.
