SANDHURST Memorial Park facilities have had a facelift.

Additional security fencing has been erected on the Pipers Field/Woodbine Close boundary. The area of shrubland down to the railway has been cleared and Railtrack will keep the surface water outlets clear down to the river.

The 3rd Sandhurst Scouts have been provided with new security fencing to their compound while fencing along the Yorktown Road has been renewed and planning permission received for a new entrance sign.

The ancient woodland area adjacent to Marshall Road has been cleared and coppiced ensuring sustainable growth for the wood.

The Community Hall complex has received a facelift with an upgrade to the kitchen already completed and reception improvements are under way while a new storage building in the grounds maintenance compound was installed in November. The Tug of War Club and Allotment Association have also been given storage units.

Those who attended the Remembrance Service in November will have noticed that the War Memorial has been refurbished and more repairs are planned. This work forms part of the policy programme set by the Town Council in January 2001.
