A FORMER Aldershot special needs school is to be demolished to make way for 17 homes.
The application to build the houses at the Henry Tyndale school site has been given the green light by Rushmoor Council planners.
Residents living near the land in Croft Road and Blackman Gardens objected to the scheme.
They cited loss of privacy and traffic problems as some of the reasons why the application should be thrown out.
But the council development control committee decided the scheme was "compatible with the surrounding area".
Members also agreed the design blended in with the adjoining Manor Park conservation area.
