Thanks to grants of £25,730, children and parents are getting three new out-of-school clubs in Rushmoor.

The cash comes from The New Opportunities Fund, which handles lottery money.

Sweetpeas at Parsonage Farm Infant School and Manor Kids' Club at Manor Infant School in Farnborough made successful bids for start-up funding and can now offer a safe and happy environment for children.

Belle Vue Kids' Club in Aldershot has also received funding and will be able to offer places later in the year.

Coun David Clifford, Rushmoor's Cabinet Member for Leisure and Promotions, visited Manor Kids' Club to meet children and staff and congratulate everyone who had worked so hard to get the project off the ground.

"This is excellent news for all the clubs who have put in successful bids. With grants available from The New Opportunities Fund and help with childcare costs, there has never been a better time to set up an after school club," he told the Star.

Many parents, children and others would like to have a club in their community, either before or after school or in the holidays.

Carol James, Play and Childcare Development Worker for Rushmoor Borough Council, says: "More out of school schemes are still needed in Rushmoor.
