Shop staff left 'shaken' by Christmas Eve robbery

Staff at a Co-op store in Aldershot were threatened by three men who fled with cash and cigarettes in the early morning raid

Staff members were threatened by three men who walked into a shop in Aldershot and stole cash and cigarettes on Christmas Eve.

Police are now appealing for information following the robbery at the Co-op store in Queens Road, which happened between 6am and 6.20am.

The men entered the shop while two workers were preparing to open for the day.

The first suspect was described as a black man, aged in his late 20s to early 30s, around 5ft 7in tall, of medium to stocky build and with a London accent.

The second man was also black, aged in his mid-20s, around 6ft 1in tall and of skinny build.

The only description of the third suspect is that he was a black man and of a similar size to the first robber.

Detective Constable Andy Young said: “I would like to hear from anyone who witnessed three men matching these descriptions in the area at the time of this incident.

“Maybe you saw them fleeing from the scene following the robbery.

“Thankfully the shop staff were not injured during this incident but they have been left shaken by their experience.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact DC Young at Aldershot police station by phoning 101.

Mini-Com users can call the police on 18001 101, or information can be given anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
