ALDERSHOT Town unveiled its new manager on Saturday -not one of the big or local names who were among the 60 applicants, but Terry Brown, manager of Conference strugglers Hayes.

Brown, who had been at Hayes for nine years, told the Star that it was a great opportunity both for himself and for assistant manager Stuart Cash, who had held the fort since the departure of the mercurial George Borg.

"We have the opportunity to take a very big club into at least the Conference and hopefully one step further than that," he said.

He said that Hayes had had limited resources and spectator support with gates of only 600 whereas Aldershot had massive potential support. On Tuesday he was travelling to the Isle of Wight for the first time in his life as Shots took on Newport.
