ELVETHAM Heath, Fleet's new minitown, pictured above, scooped two awards at Hart's first ever design awards ceremony at Lord Wandsworth College last week.
Top housing layout award went to The Mounts, a 101-home area of the giant estate that was completed last May. The Mounts' design was submitted by Simon Cooper Associates, architectural consultants.
The judging panel described it as "a highly successful departure from traditional estate design" and " an excellent example of new housing that achieves high density development in an attractive and intimate layout."
A special award was given to Elvetham Heath Developments for the whole of Phase One of the estate. The judges said there were features in its design and layout that could be considered by others undertaking large and significant developments.
Other top awards went to HA & D B Kitchin Ltd for the conversion of Charlton's Bakery in Odiham into homes and a clinic and to Somorjay Talliss Associates for the restoration and extension of the Victoria Hall at Hartley Wintney.
A block of seven new apartments at Heath Lodge, Yateley, earned a highly commended certificate for Alison Burgoyne, of Romans Professional Services.
