FORTY-FIVE motorists were caught speeding when police set a trap at Mytchett - but not one was fined.

Instead they all opted to receive some road safety advice from comedian Alexei Sayle. He has made a video on the dangers of speeding, and the possible consequences, which drivers watched at the side of Mytchett Road.

By choosing to hear what he had to say, the motorists avoided having three penalty points on their licence, and a £60 fine.

Surrey police has launched the road safety advice days in the hope that education will be more effective the persecuting drivers.

PC Derek Seekings, Surrey Heath casualty reduction officer, said: "We chose Mytchett Road because there have been 18 injury collisions there in the past three years." He added that all 45 drivers had been travelling at well over the 30mph speed limit.
