FORMER Spurs stars are to play in Sandhurst in aid of a little boy suffering from a rare illness.
A team led by ex-centre forward Martin Chivers will play a Sandhurst Town veterans' team a week on Sunday in aid of Jay Lloyd, aged five.
Spurs fan Yvonne Cleminson approached Chivers, whom she heard did work for charity, in an attempt to help Jay, her grandson.
He has Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome Vascular Type, a potentially fatal illness that he inherited from his late mother, Emma.
About one in 5,000 people has Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), which causes severe fragility of connective tissue in arteries, veins, skin and other organs.
But only a small proportition have the particularly serious Vascular Type, which can cause sudden death.
Mrs Cleminson, a pub landlady in Farnham, said: "Jay will not be able to live the life of a normal growing boy, he will not be able to play football past the age of eight, and his future life expectancy is unknown."
Jay, who lives with his father in Wrecclesham, Surrey, is due to attend the game, being held at Sandhurst Recreation Ground, Yorktown Road, on Sunday, September 22.
Mrs Cleminson has raised £22,000 for research into EDS in the past three years by organising football fund-raisers.
Peter Browning, manager of Sandhurst Town Football Club, who is an old friend of hers, helped arrange the game.
Other top Spurs names from the past who are due to play include midfielder Ralph Coates and winger Jimmy Neighbour.
The match kicks off at 4pm, but the day's programme begins at 1pm with a juniors' mini-soccer tournament and entertainment including a bouncy castle.
A family ticket admitting four costs £5, with adult tickets £3, and children and pensioners paying £1.
They are available from John Kenward on (0783) 6597490.
