EDGBARROW School's student council has proved it cares about people living in some of the poorest parts of the world.

On Monday, it presented a cheque for £500 to the charity Wateraid to help people in the Third World achieve sustainable improvements to their quality of life through better domestic water supply, sanitation and associated hygiene practices.

Pupils raised the money through organised non-uniform days at the school.

Edgbarrow School and Wateraid have recently developed closer links through a series of school assemblies explaining the importance of the charity's work.
