ON a glorious spring morning on Sunday a record 55 members of Hart Road Runners ran in Fleet Half Marathon.

This year saw a new route, taking in the Elvetham Heath estate and going out via an attractive rural setting through Rotten Green, Winchfield and Dogmersfield. Weather conditions were near perfect; sunny, cool and no wind. This, combined with a flattish course, made for some fast times. The first club man home was Gary Pesquero in an hour 21mins 05secs, and the first club woman back was Janine Francis in an hour 29mins 06secs.

Repeating their success of last year, the Hart Road Runners' ladies again won first team prize.

The best improver (for beating their handicap time by the biggest margin) was Dave Hart.

The Hart Road Runners now boast a membership of 134 runners, catering for all ages (16 and upwards) and all abilities. They meet at the Hart Leisure Centre at 7.30pm on Tuesdays and 7pm on Thursdays. For further information on the club contact Howard Robinson on 01252 629827.
