ARTHUR Phillips is claiming this year's title as the area's champion sunflower grower. At his home in Hillside Road, Weybourne, he has grown no fewer than 26 giant flowers - nearly all of them around 14 feet high.
The 72-year-old retired stock investigator for Boots has made several attempts to grow the giant flowers before - but this has been his most successful effort.
"It takes gallons of water and lots of feed," he says. "The only problem I've had is getting hold of the canes to support them."
