AS part of this year's "Heritage Open Days", Aldershot Military Museum is opening its Chieftain main battle tank to the public on Saturday, September 14.
A team of volunteers will be on hand to guide visitors and explain, from first hand experience, what it was like to serve in Britain's primary cold war battle tank.
This is a rare opportunity for visitors to see inside one of the largest and most popular vehicles in the museum's collection.
"Heritage Open Days" is designed to reveal aspects of Britain's heritage which otherwise remain closed to the public.
"This is an ideal opportunity for the museum to open one of the most important British tanks of the last 70 years to the public," said Ian Maine, curator of Aldershot Military Museum.
The event, which is free, will run from 10am to 4pm. There is no need to book. Normal charges will apply to museum entrance. For further details please contact Aldershot Military Museum on 01252 314598.
