Shaun Robb and his best friend Simon Price will scale Snowdon next month — but to make it harder they will walk there and back carrying all their equipment.

The duo will leave Shaun's house in Dene Road, Cove, for the 520-mile trip.

They will take about five days to walk to the mountain, climb it in two days and then walk back.

"We decided we would go to Snowdon, which we have both climbed before, but then thought that it would be different if we made it a little harder," said Shaun, 18.

"The challenge is to walk with all our equipment, including sleeping bags, tents, food and clothes, from Farnborough to Snowdon, climb Snowdon and then walk back again.

"We have both served in the Armed Forces as infantry. Simon was in the Army and I was in the Royal Air Force Regiment, so strenuous activity is nothing new to us."

The daring pair, who both went to Cove School, hope to raise more than £500 for Children in Need.

Work colleagues at Gap Personnel in Arthur Street, Aldershot, have already promised Shaun at least £175, while kitchen fitter Simon, 19, of Montgomery Road, Farnborough, is also busy raising money.

Anyone who wants to sponsor them can contact Shaun on 01252 641732.
