DURING last month I was rushed into hospital with a serious illness from which I am now recovering at home — the quick action by my GP, Dr Christine Marshall, almost certainly saved it from being fatal.

I am writing this short letter of public thanks to the staff of Frimley Park Hospital, particularly those who looked after me whilst I was on Chavasse Ward in March.

Some readers may not be aware, but Chavasse Ward is one of the two military wards in the hospital.

Like most other institutions, these days, the hospital comes in for its fair share of criticism and complaint.

However, I had no complaints and I was impressed with the care and dedication of the staff who served the ward — military and civilian alike.
