IS it Russet or Russett - one "t" or two? Take your pick, it seems, as far as Surrey Heath Council is concerned.
They've spelt it both ways on these name plates placed at each end of a Camberley street.
As any self-respecting apple eater knows, Russet has one "t".
According to the Oxford dictionary, this particular variety of apple is reddish brown in colour. As for the council employee who checked these nameplates, his or her face should be bright red with embarrassment.
