POLICE renewed efforts to persuade motorists not to leave empty bags on display in their cars after a Frimley motorist had a window smashed by a thief who escaped with an empty laptop computer bag.

"The thief thought it was his lucky day -it wasn't, but the motorist still had a broken car window," police spokeswoman Judy Williams said about the incident outside the victim's home in Shamrock Close.

Meanwhile at Sainsbury's superstore off the Blackwater Valley Road a visitor from Sussex lost a £2400 laptop that he left on the front seat of his car in the car park. Again, the window was smashed.
