PLANS for 33 new homes on a site at Watery Lane in Church Crookham have run into local opposition from residents who claim that there are too many dwellings proposed which will harm the setting of a nearby bridleway.

The scheme, from Tryhomes, is expected to come before Hart's Development Control committee next month. It includes the now closed Old Forge Café and a former farmyard that contains some contaminated land.

Philip Perry of Watery Lane said this week: "It is entirely out of keeping with the rural nature of the lane and will damage its amenity value to local residents, ramblers and horse riders."

He predicted that with 70 extra cars using the lane there would be more accidents at the junction with Redfields Lane. He is urging local people to write to Hart with their comments.
