POLICE are hunting a thief who is targeting women shoppers at Camberley.
The villain has struck twice in the crowded town centre in the past week.
In each case property was stolen from shoulder bags which were unzipped without the owners' knowledge.
The first theft happened on Tuesday last week when a mobile phone was stolen from a 17-year-old student.
Three days later a purse containing £20 in cash was taken from a bag belonging to a 44-year-old woman.
Judy Williams, Camberley police press officer, said: "We are warning women to be on their guard, especially when the shopping centre is crowded."
The best advice, she said, was for women to keep their shoulder bags in front of them rather than dangling behind.
