FOURTEEN year old Tom Choularton from White Lane, Ash Green, started 2003 with a win after proving he has an eye for words in a word-search competition organised by the Formative Fun toy shop, Farnborough.
Tom won a £50 box of goodies for completing the challenge and having his name successfully drawn from among the correct entries.
The competition involved finding various product names in a word-search and then deciphering a hidden message using the remaining letters.
"The competition proved very popular and Tom's win is a good start to the year" said Sandie Bentley, Formative Fun manager.
Formative Fun, which holds regular competitions, sells educational toys, books and games. Since it opened in Queensmead in 1994, children have benefited from its fun approach to learning, and it draws customers from a wide area.
