Politicians and royalty are no strangers to the Farnborough Air Show.

Over the years a number of big names in the world of politics have attended Farnborough Airport, including prime ministers Tony Blair and David Cameron.

The show has also been used by famous entrepreneurs as an opportunity to launch new ventures.

Sir Richard Branson used the last air show in 2012 to reveal the Virgin Galactic SpaceShip Two, while Defence Secretary Philip Hammond also appeared to officially receive the first of a new fleet of helicopters for the Ministry of Defence (MoD).

No fewer than three members of the coalition government have been to the air show since the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats came to power in 2010.
