Held from September 7-13, the 1998 Farnborough Air Show marked 50 years since the event had begun.

Once again, Farnborough Airport was packed with planes of various sizes, countries and uses.

These included the huge C17 Globemaster transport plane from America, Saab Gripens from the Swedish Air Force and two Mig-29s from the Russian Air Force, as well as other exhibits from the Dutch and Danish Air Forces and with Thai Airways sending a Boeing 777.

A total of 25 aircraft made their debut at the 1998 Farnborough Air Show.

This was also the last year the Farnborough Airport event was held in September, with the next show moving to its now familiar slot in July.
