The Farnborough Air Show 2004 took place under a cloud of uncertainty over the future of the event.
Business pressures meant organisers were having to consider reducing the number of trade days and eliminating the public days.
The director of the show, Trevor Sidebottom, was even quoted as saying that he was not sure whether there was going to be a show in 2006 - but there was and it has gone on to prosper since then.
The 2004 show saw 1,360 trade exhibitors take part with an average of 30,000 people attending every day.
The show also saw the first ever landing and display at Farnborough Air Show of 747s from South African and Cathay Pacific airlines.
The special guest at the show was none other than Prince Andrew who arrived for lunch with the organisers.
There were also a number of static displays including a BAR Formula One car, a Top Fuel dragster, a Lola B2 K10 endurance sportscar and the MG XPower SV supercar.
MG Rover Group also made good use of Farnborough's long runways in their world-record breaking MG ZT-T.
For the first time in 56 years, the show featured an International Space Pavilion, providing an ideal opportunity for the space industry to showcase its advances and capabilities.
