Farnborough Air Show countdown: A look back at 2006

Tony Blair visited the 2006 show, which marked the first appearance of the Airbus A380

The world's largest passenger plane, the Airbus A380, was sent to the 2006 Farnborough Air Show.

The double decker was flown for the entertainment of the crowds at Farnborough Airport alongside other aircraft such as the latest MiG-29M, a debut from Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd which demonstrated a helicopter and training jet, and the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.

Then-prime minister Tony Blair also put in an appearance while at least $28bn of business orders were announced at the show.

Outside Farnborough Airport, members of the Campaign Against Arms Trade protested against the military deals which are done at the air show.
