April 17, 2008
RESIDENTS in Surrey Heath have been warned to be on their guard after five cars were broken into on one night last month.
The neighbourhood policing teams in Mytchett and Frimley Green are warning motorists to take proper security precautions following a spate of thefts from cars.
Surrey Heath’s Crime Reduction Advisor, PC Robin Wood said: “A few simple measures can drastically reduce your chances of becoming a victim of vehicle crime.
“We would urge people to lock their vehicles when they are left overnight, even if it’s on their driveway. Also don’t leave anything of value in your car.”
This advice follows five vehicle break-ins overnight on March 30/31 in Coleford Bridge Road, Mytchett, and Sturt Road, Frimley Green.
Thieves stole valuables including an iPOD Nano, a Nokia N95 mobile phone, CDs, cash, credit cards, a bottle of champagne and a man’’s jacket.
