The very best specs
3/ 7/2008
More than 300 spectacle-wearers took their chance to be voted the Aldershot Specsavers store spectacles wearer of the year.
In the run-up to Victoria Day in the town, and on the day itself, visitors to the Specsavers Union Street store had their photo taken and entered into the fun competition.
All 300-plus entries will go forward to the Specsavers national competition, where top prize is a modelling contract.
The result of the Aldershot competition will not affect anyone’s chances of winning the national prize.
The local competition prizes are a pair of designer glasses for the first prize, designer sunglasses for first runner-up, and a £50 store voucher for the second runner-up.
The eight finalists and the final three then chosen by Specsavers store manager Mark Dunn, Richard Wyeth from Garrison FM, town centre manager Jennifer Rawlings and Star editor Joanne Jones.
A donation of £1 for every entry is being made to Kidscape children’s charity.
