Strike by 999 workers called off

15/ 7/2008

A planned strike by staff responsible for handling police 999 calls in Hampshire has been suspended following last minute talks between police and trade union representatives.

Control centre workers were set to walk out over changes to working conditions.

But UNISON, the public sector trade union, said it had now decided to suspend the action in order to ballot all union members.

Police union members, who comprise three-quarters of the Netley control room staff, will now be consulted until next Friday (July 25).
