Driving instructor set upon by drunk man in road

25/ 7/2008

A driving instructor was dragged out of his car and shaken by a drunken attacker who had walked into the path of the vehicle.

Now police in Aldershot are appealing for witnesses to the incident on Sunday, July 13.

At around 4pm the driving instructor was finishing a lesson with a student along Birchett Road, heading towards the railway station.

A man and a woman suddenly walked into the road and the instructor had to grab the steering wheel to avoid hitting them.

The driving instructor and student then parked on the corner of Cavendish Road where the student got out and two other students got in.

While talking to the two new students, the instructor was pulled out of the vehicle by the man he had to swerve to avoid hitting moments before.

Upon hearing a commotion, a number of people came out of their homes and witnessed the man grab the instructor by his shirt and shake him.

The couple, who are believed to have been drinking, then walked off along Lysons Road into Grosvenor Road and went into the Unicorn pub.

The attacker is described as white, aged 25 to 30, with dirty blonde hair and beard stubble.

He was over 6ft tall, of medium build and was wearing a white t-shirt with a picture of a monkey on the front.

He had blue jeans on and was carrying shopping bags from Wilkinson and Sainsbury’s.

The woman is described as white, aged 23 to 27, with shoulder length blonde hair, tied in a pony tail.

She was 5ft to 5ft 3in tall, slim and was wearing a pink top and blue jeans.

PC Simon Monga said: “The victim of this incident was very shaken up having been dragged from his vehicle in broad daylight.

“We know there were a number of witnesses and would urge anyone with information about the incident to contact police as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information about the incident can contact PC Monga at Aldershot police station on 0845 045 45 45 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
