Help from all over

It's not often you hear of banks giving money away, but Barclays in Yateley set a great example with a charity gift.

Following a report in the Star about a break-in and theft of a plasma screen TV and computer games from a day centre for disabled adults, the bank bosses stood by the company’s commitment to looking after local communities.

They allocated £500 from their funds to enable DASH – Leonard Cheshire disability group – to upgrade facilities at their Fernhill Road centre.
Bank staff went along to the centre to hand over the cheque.

“It was super; we are very pleased indeed,” said Val Fuller on behalf of the centre.

Another visitor on the day was Keith Hall from the Traco club in Aldershot, which presented the centre with a replacement Nintendo Wii.

Yateley Lions have also stepped up to help; their contribution was to cover the cost of enhanced security at the centre – including shutters for the windows.
