Organisers of a charity cycle ride are calling for Star readers to join their 15th anniversary celebration.
Money raised from this year’s Fleet Twenty sponsored cycle ride will go to care charity for older people Brendoncare.
Volunteer Gordon Edmonds is calling on people of all ages to sign up for either the 10- or 20-mile race which takes place on Sunday, September 21 at 10am, starting and finishing at the Red Cross Centre in Fleet.
All proceeds from the race will go to Brendoncare Club Hampshire’s five social clubs for older people.
Gordon, who has recently been awarded a Hampshire County Council Good Neighbour Award for his sterling volunteering work at the Hampshire club, said: “This is a great race which is a lot of fun. We hope to hear from people from all over Hampshire who are keen to get their cycling shorts on and their legs in shape!
“All proceeds will go to Brendoncare’s clubs in Fleet which provide a valuable service helping older people to remain active and socially engaged. Older people meet with others, take part in varied activities and enjoy spending time together – for some, it’s the only trip out they have all week.”
Contact Gordon Edmonds on 07860 361 518 or email gordon.edmonds@talktalk.net to sign up.
