A Fleet pre-school is being kicked out of the church hall it has used for the past 30 years and staff and parents are launching a desperate plea to find new premises. 

Squirrels Community Pre-school, which operates from the hall at All Saints Church, in Church Road, Fleet, has been told that it will have to vacate the hall because there are plans to tear it down and re-build it.

The pre-school has been unable to find new premises to rent and is now hoping to fundraise for a new purpose-built hall.

Elaine Major, the pre-school’s supervisor, is calling on the community to rally round.

She said: “The message we are trying to get across is we are not closing.

“We are absolutely fighting tooth and nail to get funds to build a new premises.

“We’ve been a cherished community group for such a long time. We have good Ofsteds, we’re not going to let that go. We have long-serving staff who are very good. “It’s too much to let go.”
