By Marcus Mabberley14/10/2008
Police are hunting a mugger who punched a woman in Aldershot’s Manor Park and then stole her purse.
The 40-year-old victim was walking along a path at around 9.10am on Thursday October 2 when the man approached her.
The robber passed her and then stopped and turned around. He shouted at the petrified woman before punching her on her arm, causing minor bruising.
He then stole her purse containing £90 from her pocket and then ran off.
The man is mixed race, at least 6ft tall, of stocky build and had stubble on his face. He was wearing a bright blue baseball cap, a black zip-up hooded top with a white design on the arm, black tracksuit trousers and blue trainers.
Pc Adam Geer said: “This robbery took place in a busy park during daylight hours. It was unprovoked and we would urge anyone who witnessed it or anyone who recognises the description to contact police as soon as possible.”
Anyone with any information should call Pc Geer at Farnborough police station on 0845 0454545 or the free and in confidence Crimestoppers line on 0800 555111.
