Man left blind in one eye by gang attack
20/10/2008
A man was left blind in one eye after a gang of men assaulted him as he waited for a train home.
The man, who was already partially sighted, was waiting at Aldershot railway station for a train to London at around 11.40pm on Saturday, August 9, when at least three men attacked him.
One of them used a belt, which caught his eye.
An eye specialist has since confirmed the 23-year-old victim has now permanently lost the sight in one eye.
Detective Constable Tony Bronger of British Transport Police said this was a particularly nasty incident and they are determined to bring the perpetrators to justice.
He was investigating a possible link with an incident earlier that night in with an altercation outside a nearby nightclub when the victim asked for directions to the station.
He said: “Police have seized CCTV from the station and nearby Victoria Road in an attempt to track those responsible.”
“We have released images of the three males we would like to speak with in relation to this assault and would appeal for them to contact police or for anyone who can identify the individuals to contact police.”
