Death crash boy's dad hits out after flower theft
By Stephen Lloyd27/10/2008
A father has hit out at the “despicable” person who stole flowers from the scene of where his son died in a car crash.
Gary Nunn was shocked to discover a large floral star had been stolen from the junction of Tadpole Lane and Beacon Hill Road in Ewshot, and cards from friends had been ripped up.
Mr Nunn and his wife Lisa Holmes had placed it there to mark the first anniversary of their son’s death.
Daniel Ayre died on September 19 last year, his 16th birthday, when the car he was travelling in was in an accident with a van.
Mr Nunn said: “Lots of people had put flowers there to mark the anniversary, including all of Daniel’s friends from Calthorpe Park School
“We put a big star wreath there, but when we went to tidy the area up a few days ago we found it had been stolen.
“It was a big wreath in the shape of a star and measured about 20 inches. It was pegged into the ground so it hasn’t blown away.
“Some of the cards written by his friends had also been ripped up.
“How anyone can stoop so low I don’t know.
“I just wonder why anyone would want to steal a wreath, unless it’s to put on someone’s grave.”
