£50,000 worth of drugs seized in raids
27/10/2008
More than 100 wraps of crack cocaine and heroin worth around £50,000 have been seized as part of a crackdown on drug dealing in Hart and Rushmoor.
Police also found £4,000 worth of crack cocaine and heroin in wraps in a separate raid during the two-day operation.
The raids were carried out by officers from the North and East OCU alongside teams from specialist operations including the force support unit, tactical firearms support unit, dog support unit and roads policing unit. The operation, which began last Wednesday, targeted drug dealers coming into the north of the county.
Superintendent Paul Brooks said: “We will continue to run operations like this in the months ahead until people coming into Hampshire to deal drugs get the message that they are not welcome on our streets and will be arrested and robustly prosecuted.
“We don’t want unsavoury characters coming into the county — we will take them out.”
Anyone with information about drugs can call police on 0845 045 4545 or Crimestoppers anonymously and free of charge on 0800 555111.
A total of 16 people were arrested in connection with the raids.
