Calendar boys to net hospice cash

14/11/2008

Footballers are hoping to net cash for charity by getting their kit off.

Nakedness is the theme of a 2009 calendar aiming to raise at least £1,000.

Players from Dynamo Cove, a Sunday league football team, have posed in their birthday suits to raise money for the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice in Farnham.

Fourteen members of the team appear holding only footballs in the black and white photographs.

Dave Norton, director of the photoshoot, said: “If we manage to sell 135 calendars, we’ll be able to make a donation of £1,000 to the hospice. We’ve had some great reactions so far from women who want to buy them as Christmas presents for their friends - they’re all saying it’s a great idea and a great cause.

“Some have ordered more than one!”

A naked team photograph greets people as they look at the front page.

Twelve Dynamos in various nude poses are then found on each month’s page.

Mr Norton added: “All photographs are tasteful and artistic, with no inappropriate or indecent images.”

He and Dynamo Cove agreed that a calendar would be an original way of raising vital funds for the hospice, which needs £10,000 a day to keep all its services running.

Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice serves 600,000 people across West Surrey and North East Hampshire. Patients are cared for in their own homes, in the community and at the hospice. Only 16% of the hospice’s funding comes from the NHS.

The calendar is on sale for £7.50. E-mail dave@dynamocove.co.uk
