Raising awareness of council work in Hart
19/11/2008
Hart District Council has launched an eye-catching campaign to raise awareness of its services.
As part of the Local Government Association (LGA) 'My Council' campaign, the authority now promotes a variety of its services on the side of dustcarts.
Councillor Stephen Parker, cabinet member for the environment, said LGA research showed that residents appreciated being well-informed about what their council does for them.
He added: “This campaign features just a few of the front line service provided by Hart District Council. The district council services are provided from just 10% of the council tax collected.
“This campaign should help to illustrate the good value for money that residents get for that tax.”
Among the services highlighted are making sure residents do not get food poisoning from restaurants, providing recycling collections for glass and plastic, providing safe local play areas for children, offering keep fit and leisure centre facilities and taking care of the district’s wildlife.
