MoD names latest Welsh Guard killed in Afghanistan

THE MINISTRY of Defence have confirmed the identity of a Welsh Guard who was killed in Afghanistan on Saturday.
Lance Corporal Dane Elson died in an explosion while his unit worked to clear Taliban positions South of Malgir.
He was 22 years old.
He is the fifth member of 1st Battalion, Welsh Guards – based in Lille Barracks to die since it arrived in Afghanistan in April.
He died four days after his commanding officer – Lieutenant Colonel Rupert Thornloe, who died on July 1.
