Man in court on sex assault charges

A FARNBOROUGH man has appeared in court charged with sexual assault.
Patrick Gerard Thornton spoke only to confirm his name, age and address when he appeared at Aldershot Magistrates’ Court on Monday morning. (Oct 19).
The balding 52-year-old is accused of sexual assault on a male in Cove on May 24.
Wearing a grey suit, grey shirt and grey tie, Thornton, of Hawthorn Road, Farnborough, was given conditional bail during the four-minute hearing.
Magistrates ruled he must live at his flat in Hawthorn Road, report to Farnborough police station every Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 10am and 4pm, not contact prosecution witnesses and not go to Cove Green, the Tradesman’s Arms or the Prospect estate.
Thornton was committed to Winchester Crown Court for a plea and case management hearing on December 7.
