A WOMAN took off her shoes to attack a half-naked man in Aldershot town centre before slashing him across the back with a broken bottle.

The victim needed stitches for a 10in wound after the assault, which happened in Aldershot town centre, shortly after 12.35am on Sunday November 1, police said.

According to police, the 22-year-old man was involved in an altercation with a black man, a white man and a woman in the High Street.

The victim told police he does not remember how the argument started but said the woman was the main aggressor.

After he took off his shirt, the woman removed her shoes and tried to attack him with them. She was then joined by the white man who had taken off his belt to use it to hit the victim.

The victim backed away into Princes Gardens but was surrounded by the three suspects, police allege.

At some point a bottle was smashed and the woman picked up a piece of glass and slashed the victim across his back.

Managing to escape, the man ran across the High Street and into Short Street where he stood on the corner of Nelson Street.

Belt attack

The two men allegedly approached him again, the white man striking him with a belt, before chasing the man up Nelson Street towards Grosvenor Road, and striking him with the belt again.

The attack then stopped and the victim told police he remembers being in the road and seeing headlights. He was taken to hospital and treated for his back injury.  PC Keiran O’Farrell from the Targeted Patrol Team said: “We know there would have been lots of people in the town centre when it happened, both enjoying a night out and making their way home.

“We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed this incident or knows who was responsible to get in touch.”

Those with information are asked to contact PC O’Farrell at Farnborough police station on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
