A BOY brandished a knife to rob a passer-by of his mobile phone in Farnborough on Monday, police said.

The 27-year-old man was walking along Elm Grove Road towards Farnborough train station between 7pm and 8pm on Monday (November 9) when he was approached by a gang of five children.

One of the boys asked the man for money. He showed them his empty wallet, but then the boy pulled out a knife and demanded the man hand over his mobile phone. Seeing the knife, the man did as he was told.

Officers have descriptions of two of the children.

Hooded top

The first boy was riding a BMX bike with no saddle. He is described as between 13 and 14 years old, white, of skinny build, and was wearing a red zip-up hooded top with the hood pulled up.

The second boy, also aged 13 to 14, was white and had very short black hair.

Pc James Copley, from Aldershot CID, said the robbery happened on Monday evening when there would have been plenty of people out and about.

He said: “Did you see a group of youths in the area acting suspiciously in Union Street, Elm Grove Road or the Princes Mead Shopping Centre area?

“Do you have any information about what happened or who was involved? If so, please contact us.”

Anyone with information should contact Pc Copley at Aldershot police station on 101 or call the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
